According to a recent issue of the journal of Cognitive Science, you are probably talking to a warm, agreeable, and energetic person. People who express themselves with hand motions are often more engaged and passionate about what they are speaking about, which explains why these people are thought to be more intelligent.

The thoughts we express with our hands are our most advanced ideas about the issues we are working on. We just cannot seem to incorporate these notions into words, and so we convey them in movement. This way of expressing ourselves is an effective way of communicating, and a trait that most successful leaders have.
